This summer was a very busy one for Mari Davies from Bethesda and her sailing partner Sarah Norbury, as they spent 6 weeks abroad competing in the international 420 fleet.

The first event of the summer was in Keiler Woche, Germany.  A massive international  regatta attended by thousands with racing across numerous fleets. Stormy weather and fickle wind meant that only four races were held in the two racing days.

Mae gwaith adeiladu wedi cychwyn ar gynllun £4 miliwn i ddatblygu adeilad Academi Hwylio Pwllheli a fydd yn cwblhau’r pecyn o fuddsoddiadau cyfalaf yn ardal harbwr y dref. 

Mae’r dywarchen gyntaf wedi ei thorri ar safle Academi Hwylio Genedlaethol Cymru ym Mhenrhyn Glan Don, Pwllheli. Bydd yr adeilad yn rhan allweddol o’r pecyn £8.3 miliwn a ddiogelwyd gan Gyngor Gwynedd i gryfhau’r diwydiant morol a hwylio yn lleol.

Mae cynllun yr Academi Hwylio Genedlaethol a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau wedi ei gydariannu drwy Gronfa Datblygu Rhanbarthol Ewrop drwy Lywodraeth Cymru a Chyngor Gwynedd. 

Bydd yr adeilad eiconig hwn yn ganolfan i gynnal digwyddiadau a chystadleuthau hwylio gyda’r gorau yn y byd. Bydd hefyd yn adnodd canolog i’r gymuned leol ac i’r diwydiant awyr agored ym Mhwllheli a’r ardal gyfagos.

Spinlock IRC Welsh Championships 1st – 3rd August 2014

We are only a few weeks from the inaugural ‘Spinlock IRC Welsh Championships’ hosted this year by Pwllheli Sailing Club on 1st to 3rd August.

The event has used the successful 2013 J Cup hosted by PSC as a spring board with the added award of the ‘Spinlock IRC’ regional title for Wales. PSC Commodore Stephen Tudor said: ‘The Club is very proud to be offered the opportunity to host the first Welsh IRC Championships and is delighted to see competitors already entered from Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland and Liverpool in addition to the local competitive fleet. Entries are still being received and we still have free berths available for the event on the new Academy pontoons’.

The date for the 2014 Hwyl yr Heli is Saturday 16th of August 2014.

The day will be organised by Plas Heli's Community Development Officer David Hughes. The event was a great success last year and we hope to grow the event this year by further developing the established themes.

We are delighted to report that the marine works has started - the bund on the west side of the harbour has been constructed and the dredging is on-going and should be completed before Easter - although the dredging of the new area for the dedicated visitor and events berths, to the north of the marina, may take a little longer.

The whole of the marine works including the new quay will be completed in June this year. This photograph shows the construction of the new quay wall which will form part of the access to the new pontoons.

Newyddion Gwych - dyma datganiad i'r wasg gan Cyngor Gwynedd.

Wynne Construction i adeiladu Academi Hwylio Cenedlaethol Cymru a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau ym Mhwllheli

Mae cwmni o ogledd Cymru wedi cael ei ddewis gan Gyngor Gwynedd i adeiladu Academi Hwylio Cenedlaethol Cymru a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau eiconig ym Mhwllheli.

Mae’r cytundeb rhwng Cyngor Gwynedd a chwmni Wynne Consturction yn caniatáu i waith ar y safle gychwyn ym mis Ebrill 2014 gyda’r cyfnod adeiladu yn parhau am 12 mis.

Y cytundeb diweddaraf yma yw’r olaf o’r contractau sydd yn gysylltiedig â phrosiect yr Academi Hwylio Cenedlaethol a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau gwerth £8.3 miliwn, sydd yn cael ei ariannu’n rhannol gan Gronfa Ddatblygu Rhanbarthol Ewrop drwy Lywodraeth Cymru. Mae’r gwaith ffordd eisoes wedi ei gwblhau ac mae gwaith morol ar y gweill ar hyn o bryd oddi fewn i’r harbwr.

Bydd adeilad yr Academi Hwylio Cenedlaethol a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau yn cynnwys prif neuadd ar gyfer defnydd hwylwyr a’r gymuned leol, ystafelloedd hyfforddiant ac addysgu a chyfleusterau arlwyo, mewn adeilad eiconig i gyd-fynd â lleoliad hwylio o’r radd flaenaf ym Mae Ceredigion.

Mae Cyngor Gwynedd wedi cyd-weithio gyda Wynne Consturcion yn y gorffennol ar sawl prosiect hynod lwyddiannus gan gynnwys prosiect Ysgol yr Hendre yng Nghaernarfon.

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd John Wynn Jones, Aelod Cabinet Cyngor Gwynedd gyda chyfrifoldeb am yr economi:

“Rydym yn hynod falch i weithio gyda chwmni Wynne Construction unwaith eto ar brosiect sylweddol fel hwn.

“Mae gan y cwmni enw arbennig o dda am gyflogi gweithwyr lleol a chefnogi contractwyr lleol, ac rydym yn edrych ymlaen at gyd-weithio gyda nhw i weithredu’r buddion cymunedol sydd wedi’u hymgorffori yn y cytundeb i sicrhau fod y gweithlu lleol a busnesau lleol yn gwneud y mwyaf o’r buddsoddiad sylweddol hwn yn yr ardal.

“Rydym yn rhagweld y bydd y prosiect hwn yn dod a buddion economaidd a chymunedol hirdymor i Bwllheli a’r ardal gyfagos.”

Mae’r Academi Hwylio Cenedlaethol Cymru a Chanolfan Ddigwyddiadau ym Mhwllheli wedi ei ariannu’n rhannol gan Gronfa Ddatblygu Rhanbarthol Ewrop drwy Lywodraeth Cymru.

Work has started on the new Hub building - the new (28m x 12m) storage shed for the user groups. This will be a fantastic facility and will assist the growth in the outdoor activity sections which include, amongst others, the rowing club, kayaking club and sailing.

This work is being caried out by Gelli and will be completed by the end of March 2014.

On your visit to the Club over the Christmas holiday you will notice that a building site compound has been set up adjacent to the Club marquee.

This is the compound set up by Jones Bros - the contractor appointed to undertake the marine works as part of the Academy project.

They will start work in the New Year and the first stage is to construct a bund located to the west of the marina. This work is expected to take about four weeks. 

The next stage in early Febuary is to start on the dredging work - starting with the new basin for the Academy visitor and event pontoons. 

When the basin has been completed the dredger will then proceed to dredge under the Hafan marina pontoons. At the same time work will start on the new quay wall - adjacent to the new basin.
